The NOVA Youth Flag Football League held it’s first week of Summer Camp 2009 the week of June 22^nd thru 26^th in Ashburn. Once again the highly popular flag football camp program was filled to capacity as over 120 kids ages 6 thru 13 years old enjoyed a fun filled week of flag football skills development and tournament games. Included was trained sessions by Dynamic Sports Performance (DSP) certified athletic trainers that assisted in running the campers through “Speed, Power, & Agility” drills

The NOVA Youth Flag Football League will be holding it’s second week of Summer 2009 Camp the week of August 3^rd thru 7^th. A limited number of camp spots still remain available for parents to register their child. But like our just recently completed June camp and our highly popular Fall League Season, the August sessions figures to get filled to capacity shortly. Former Washington Redskins and Philadelphia Eagles Troy Drake will be in attendance at the August camp all five days !

COACHES NEEDED: JUNIOR DIVISION (9 to 11 years old) Head Coaches are still needed due to the growth of the league. If interested, the league offers an in depth coaches training packet , along with holding a NEW Coaches training session on August 8th. Email the league at novaflag@mindspring.com for more details.

Registration for the 12th Annual NOVA "NFL" Youth Flag Football League 2009 Fall League Season will opened on April 15th. Due to the popularity of our programs, in Fall of 2008 the league had to turn away over 100 kids on our waiting list. So please make a note to register early this Spring to secure a spot in what is going to be our largest fall league season in league history in 2009. Our association was formed in 1997 and was the first youth recreational sports league to offer flag football as a program in the entire Virginia, Washington DC and Maryland area. This past Fall season saw the NOVA Youth Flag Football League enrollment of members to be one of the largest in the National Football League Youth Flag program. Our popularity continues to grow based on quality coaching, league management experience and the following of our core values in assisting parents in developing young athletes into quality young adults.

Fall Season Information (Will be home to over 60 teams this upcoming Fall Season)

Age cutoff date is September 1st - last day to request a refund for the 2009 Fall League Season was June 15th

· Developmental Skills Division (age 5 years old) : Registration is OPEN

· Mites Division (ages 6 to 8 years old) : Limited number of spots as of today still remain open

· Junior Division (ages 9 to 11 years old) : Limited number of spots as of today still remain open.

Practices start in late August (1-2 per week. individual team coaches schedules the specific practice days - not the league). Regular Seasons begins on Saturday September 12th and the season will end in early November. All games will be held in the Ashburn area. Practices are held also in the Ashburn and neighboring area's (there will be no teams practicing in the South Riding area this upcoming season).

SPECIAL REGISTRATION REQUESTS BY PARENTS or COACHES : Unfortunately special team placement requests no longer can be granted - The league honestly wishes it was possible to grant specific needs but we honestly get close to one hundred requests during registration. The NOVA "NFL" Youth Flag Football Program has grown so large over the years it has become logistically impossibly to accommodate all of these, therefore the league has voted not to grant any as it would not be fair to the others we had to deny.

What sizes do NFL FLAG jerseys come in?
NFL FLAG jerseys come in seven sizes: youth medium, youth large, small, medium, large, x-large, and xx-large. To better understand the jersey sizes please see the chart below.

The 700 member plus Ashburn based NOVA Youth Flag Football League in coordination with the Good Shepherd Alliance (GSA) will be running a "Support the Homeless in Loudoun County" Fundraising Raffle program this upcoming 2009 Fall Season. The Football League 700 members will sell GSA Raffle tickets starting in late August thru the end of September. The League Board of Directors has plans to donate the Raffle Grand Prize of a brand new 32 inch Television to the winner. Raffle drawing will be held on Saturday October 10, 2009.

The Fall of 2009 marks the 12th year that the NOVA Youth Flag Football League has supported the local community living in need by partnering with various charity programs. The organization is pleased that their local youth recreational sports league, a member of the "Fellowship of Christian Athletes", can partner in support of the Good Shepherd Alliance this upcoming fall season. The GSA is Loudoun County's oldest (since 1983) and largest (40 beds) homeless provider.

The youth flag football association was formed in 1997 and was the first youth recreational sports league to offer flag football as a program in the entire Virginia, Washington DC and Maryland area. NOVA Youth Flag Football League Fall Season Champions to participate in 1st Annual NFL Flag "Metro Bowl" versus Maryland State Champs !

The NOVA “NFL” Youth Flag Football League Fall League Champions in all three age groups have been selected to participate in the 1^st Annual NFL Flag “METRO BOWL” in November of 2009. The METRO BOWL will feature the NOVA Youth Flag Football Fall League Season Champions in the Mites (6 to 8 yrs), Junior (9 to 11 yrs) and Major Divisions (12 to 14 yrs) competing against the Maryland State NFL Youth Flag Football League Champions.

The explosion of the sport of NFL youth flag football has created an exciting opportunity for local “house” (not travel) league teams to advance to compete against other State NFL Flag housel league Champions in a Regional Championship format. The 1^st Annual NFL Youth Flag Football “Metro Bowl” Championships will be hosted at a Northern Virginia location in 2009 and alternating in Maryland in 2010. Metro Bowl organizers are in fact trying to secure FedEx Field or Redskins Park as a possible future location to host this new Annual event. Local Cablevision operators in Northern Virginia and Maryland will also be contacted too see if any interests exist to televise the event.

The NOVA “NFL” Youth Flag Football League is pleased to be participating for years to come in the NFL Flag Football Youth “METRO BOWL” and sees this as an exciting opportunity for our Fall Champions to showcase the league's core values they have learned “on and off” the Ashburn playing fields” against the Maryland State Champions. Tentative dates for the METRO BOWL is scheduled for the weekend of November 14^th/15^th.
